Teen Trip to the Hampton Mansion

We took a trip to the Hampton Mansion in Maryland with some of the youth from our church.
It was the perfect day!  After getting so much snow and ice, sixty degree weather felt so nice.

This place was nice to take pictures.   I took a lot of the outside :)

They had a farm that we walked around before we went into the mansion.
Again, lots of pictures :)

After the farm, we headed inside for a tour of the mansion.
It was kind of hard to get pictures because there was a lot of people. But I was able to get some shots.

This is the Great Hall.  At one point the grandchildren even had a snowball fight in here!

Dinning Room

My favorite room had to be the music room.

We had such a great time.

It's Almost Winter

All the leaves are down off the trees, it's really starting to feel like winter.

"Oh Christmas Tree!"

It's time to decorate the Christmas tree!
The girls were very excited to get started.
Josephina and Kirsten brought the tree in and started to fluff it up a bit.

Kit and Felicity were in charge of getting the ornaments out.
They aren't the type to have all of the same type of ornaments.  They all have different ornaments that they like on the tree.

Kit's favorite one has Donald Duck on it!

They went through the box, pulling out all the different ornaments.
Laughter was filling the air about other Christmas tree decorating times.  They remembered the time that the tree fell over while Kit was trying to put the star on top, sipping Hot-Coco under the tree, and watching the snow-flakes fall.

Finally, all the lights and decorations were on the tree.  They stepped back to look at it all.

Now they waited while Kirsten plugged the lights in.

When she plugged it in,  the room looked so cozy.

The lights reflected in their eyes.
It's one of their favorite seasons.

While getting the dolls ready for this post, two of my brothers were in my bedroom.  I had doll stuff spread all over my floor, and they were joking around.  I was behind the wall to my doll room, so I wasn't really paying attention to what they were doing.  I looked up over the wall to see the top of the Christmas tree already decorated by my brothers.
They left my room, and I went to place the dolls inside the doll room.  I looked down at the tree and noticed that they had it decorated it even more :)

I Love PicMonkey!

For my photos that I edit, I use Picmonkey.  It's free and really easy to use.  They have a lot to choose from too.
Here is a photo that I didn't edit.

I didn't like how washed-out it looked.  So, I went on to Picmonkey just to play around with it some.
I'll show you what I did.
First I went into exposure and took the brightness down to -34.

It already looks better!  But I did even more.
Under exposure again,  I went into shadow and brought it down to about 30-35.

It gives it the kind of look they have in the photography studios.
Next,  I went to "Effects" and chose the "Dusk" setting at 30%.  It kind of gives it a Sepia look.

Then to finish it off, I cropped it.

How do you like it?  It doesn't even look like the first picture I showed!
I love Picmonkey.

A Doll Room!

Felicity is excited to practice in a new doll room!
It was made at no cost!
The room is 24'' X 24''.
We made it from extra wood we had around the garage.  I painted it with extra paint we had from doing our house!  We cut trim in half and used the top half for the room.

My mom cut some left over wood flooring to build the rooms floor.

Then she stained it, and we let it dry.
WAITING was the hardest part for me :)

Last night we put the walls up, hung up the crown molding, and put the trim in place.

It works perfect for photos!

Roundup Sunday

Our Church just had Roundup Sunday.
It's a Sunday that we 'Roundup' people and bring them to church.  It has a Western theme, so people can dress up like cowboys.  All the little kids get excited about that!
After the Morning service we go to a farm that one of the members of the church owns.  It's very beautiful.

However, before we have this very exciting day we somehow have to get it ready!
Friday was spent at the farm for Work Party instead of at the church like it usually is.

We had a great time.

After lunch we had an afternoon service.

When it got dark we had a Bonfire for those that wanted to stay.  Then we had a Hay Ride!
The best part was that six children and three adults accepted Jesus into their heart.

A New Wagon

One fall afternoon Felicity and Kirsten were walking home from school and they found a red wagon sitting out for trash.
"Ooo, this would be perfect to put Coconut in!" Kirsten said.
Felicity grabbed the wagon and they walked the rest of the way to their house.
When they reached the house they ran inside and put their schoolbags in their room.
Kirsten went and got Coconut, then together they went outside.

They pulled her over to the grass and stood on the top of the hill.

"On the count of three, we will push her down the hill.  One...two.."
"Wait!"  Felicity cried.
"Well, I remember once when I was pushed down a hill in a wagon.  As soon as I reached the bottom I TIPPED!  We wouldn't want that to happen to her."
"Oh, don't worry.  Its not a steep hill and she can't go really fast."
"Oh, alright.  Go ahead."
"One, two" (long pause) "THREE!"

They watched her roll down the hill.

Down she went.   She started to go too fast!
        Suddenly a voice sounded.
"Girls!  Where is Coconut?  I need to take her on a walk!"  They heard Josephina calling.
"AHH!!  Catch the dog!"  Kirsten yelled.

Felicity lunged towards the wagon.
"I got it!"  she said.
"Phew!  That wagon was going faster than I thought," said Kirsten.  "Josephina may have been walking a dog with a broken arm, leg, nose, rib, tooth, eye or maybe even a-"
Felicity stopped her,"  I don't think she could have broken her tooth or her eye.  Besides, how could she walk a dog if it had all those problems?  But I told you, we shouldn't of pushed her down the hill.  Next time, lets just pull her in the wagon."
My mom found this wagon at a yard sale for fifty cents!
I hope you enjoyed the story!
Here are a few more pictures of Coconut in the wagon.
She's so cute!
